Police Make Arrest in Attempted Armed Robbery
SAVANNAH, GA (January 5, 2010): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) quickly arrests a suspect in an attempted armed robbery this morning.
Just before 10:00 a.m. this morning, Metro Officers were dispatched to the 1500 Blk. of Montgomery St. on a call of an attempted robbery. When officers arrived at the Dipham food mart they made contact with the victim and were advised that the suspect entered his store and pointed what was believed to be a gun under a cloth at him and demanded money. The victim refused and the suspect fled on foot.
Officers quickly canvassed the area and found a suspect that fit the description near Barnard St and 31st St. Detectives also responded and were able to obtain a positive ID with the help of the victim.
The suspect L.D.DOBSON is being charged with Aggravated Assault with intent to Rob, and Simple Battery. DOBSON was transported to CCDC and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
